Hao has a brother named Yoh – his brother is also a strong character in this series. While being the center antagonist in the entire series, Hao has astonishing abilities that can control fire. He is undoubtedly the most powerful among other characters.

If i was asking for ufodable movie quality or mappa that be having my expectations too high.The first spot of the strongest characters in Shaman King is for Hao Asakura. So i don't believe my expectations were too high the result was too low. I wasn't expecting ufodable animation but i wish that some stuff was at least moving instead of still shots. I know people say hey we had too high expectations but i disagree because my expectation was for it to at least give the time and care the manga does which isn't much to ask for as a adaptation i think. it seems that my opinion changing in my mind is unlikely) I like the 2001 anime and see it superior to the 2021 anime currently (for now unless it changes but with 52 episodes shoved in 300 chapters and this pacing. Then again even the manga ending can be weird or unsatisifying depending on the person. I still think even tho the second half diverges from the manga the heart of shaman king and the characters and the overal theme is still the same it just gets executed in a less satisifiying way. The second half diverges from the manga with weirdly enough some events taking place at other times or locations, but. It put time in what shaman king is and made a actual attempt to elevate the adapation to be better rather then copy and paste.Īnd it kinda did it elevated at least the first half to be better then the manga despite having like 2 filler episodes. So would i say it is good? So far I would say it's okay, but it doesn't live up to the manga because nothing gets much time to breath and it feels like a speedrun at times and due to that emotions miss and things fly by sometimes which makes it come of poorly.Īt the same think i think a good adaptation should surpass the manga and elevate what makes it good. That is how i've seen both sides reactĪs a manga reader it depends too it can work as you not being bothered since you know everything and just going for the ride or you can be as me, and get mad and frustrated because your expectations don't meet the end result. Either you are bothered and will notice the rushed 8-9 chapter episodes and lose interest due to the lack of feel and character interactions and you will percieve shaman king as shit, or you are not bothered by it and you will enjoy it. The 2021 anime is so far a quick hit or a miss. As for the animation, all we can hope for is that they get more freelancers/outsource some of their work. That doesn't mean that it couldn't become better in the future, the pacing right now is at it's highest and will have some time to breathe in the future. But it's still not desireable, the story doesn't have a lot of breathing moments, nor do the character moments really hit hard because they're speeding through it. When it was announced that there were only 52 episodes I was extremely disappointed.It is true that the remake has been extremely faithful to the manga and I would even say I prefer this method instead of the long drawn out filled with filler method that the 2001 anime adhered to. The pacing, which is a problem for a lot people, has been a big issue.
One thing that they've really done well though is the music which I really like. But am left feeling a bit disappointed at certain parts.Īnimation could be a lot better, there are some cuts that are well done but it has way too many stills and the story board ranges from fantastic to absolutely weak.(Art has been amazing though). I went into this show expecting the same feeling I got when reading the manga(my expectations were way too high).
